2024 OHO U In-Person Bootcamps: Los Angeles
The LA Bootcamp convened on April 25, 2024 — Registration is Closed
Keynote: Planning Your Last Comprehensive Website Redesign
Finally, the time for iterative website redesigns has arrived! We’ll explore why now is the time to start thinking about website redesign as an on-going evolution rather than a tear down and complete rebuild every five to seven years. We’ll outline the key features, technology and processes that your school needs to invest in to create a firm website foundation. Plus, we’ll look at how the skill sets of the internal team managing the website need to evolve and change.
As Managing Director of OHO, Jason leads a talented team of designers, developers, and strategists to create award-winning digital marketing and strategy work. He's launched numerous websites for clients and offers a deeply insightful perspective into each business and industry with which he consults. Jason's depth of experience in marketing, user research, graphic design, and television advertising make him uniquely qualified to create successful marketing strategies that marry messaging with design, information architecture, and technology.
Workshop: User Testing in Action
Georgy will introduce two easy-to-implement user testing activities: Think Aloud and the 5-Second Test. These two activities are foundational in collecting feedback from users to improve websites, digital campaigns, and other marketing materials. Participants will be able to practice these techniques in a short workshop.
Georgy Cohen has spent nearly 20 years wrangling digital content for universities, newspapers, and a host of other organizations. She is director of digital strategy at OHO, a full-service digital agency based in Boston, Massachusetts. Georgy previously worked at Tufts University and Suffolk University, in addition to running her own independent consultancy to higher education. She speaks frequently at industry conferences such as HighEdWeb, CASE, and ContentEd. Georgy's background is in journalism, including a three-year stint working in the fast-paced online newsroom of The Boston Globe.
Session: Higher Education Homepage Trends
What makes a great homepage? Informed by 10 years of user research, Georgy will pull apart the layers of UX, visual design, content strategy, and branding to reveal the building blocks of successful homepages.
Session & Workshop: The 3 Ways Schools Need to Use SEO
We find that many colleges and universities want to “do SEO” but don’t understand where to start. In this very practical talk, Jason will explain three strategies for optimizing pages for search including program/degree pages, branded search, and content marketing. In a hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to optimize a program or degree page for the best organic search results and have the opportunity to improve a page from their website.
