Over 50 Companies in the September 2014 iBeacon Ecosphere

The September 2014 iBeacon Ecosystem is out with over 50 companies now offering hardware and CMS platforms for managing proximity campaigns. We're also starting to see more deals being signed for the rollout of beacons in stores across the US, including Simon Malls and GameStop.

The Emerging iBeacon Ecosystem – August 2014

Just over 1 year since it's introduction, Apple's iBeacon and other Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) products, hardware and CMS platforms are hitting rapid growth. We have identified over 45 different hardware and platform providers. We are seeing the fastest growth in CMS platforms for managing iBeacon campaigns. These are platforms all businesses use to upload creative and manage which beacons send out which content. These platforms also manage the range of the beacon and trigger actions for distributing the content.


iBeacon Ecosphere – April 2014

This month I’m seeing lots more companies come onto the “CMS and platform” side of the ecosphere. There are a number of companies that were working in the proximity marketing or wallet space that are expanding their platforms to deliver an experience through iBeacons. We have identified 22 hardware and platform solutions for Beacons.

It’s been a slower month for announcements or rollouts of iBeacons save for the launch of the MLB apps last weekend and the use of iBeacons at SXSW.


Where are the MLB iBeacons?

Opening Day is coming over the next two weeks and so far there have been no additional press releases from MLB or individual clubs. Will the remaining 18 stadiums be ready for Opening Day? In addition, the ‘At the Ballpark’ app has not yet been updated as outlined in the press release. The last update to the app was on September 15, 2013.
