Understanding Medicare can be challenging, even for healthcare professionals. It’s an extremely complex system with lots of moving pieces, obscure nomenclature, and overly complicated parts, options, and payment structures. Finding answers to questions, even on the medicare.gov website, is quite challenging and leaves users frustrated and perplexed. But, the Tufts Health Plan Medicare Preferred site is changing the way insurer websites educate their visitors.
The Medicare Preferred team at Tufts Health Plan recently launched a new website offering visitors an intuitive user experience that helps them easily find answers to their questions about Medicare, select a plan that is right for them, and find a doctor. It sets a new standard amongst providers on how to effectively communicate Medicare insurance plan options while also explaining how the program itself works.
As part of the website redesign, we examined various health insurance websites with potential customers and found that none of them were meeting the needs of users, particularly when it came to helping them understand the Medicare program and the options available to them. This lack of helpful information proved to be a major stressor for potential customers transitioning from employer healthcare systems to Medicare plans. Based on our user research, we worked with the Tufts Health Plan Medicare Preferred team to create a new site that successfully fills the existing information gap. To see the result, visit the Tufts Health Plan Medicare Preferred site.
