Here at day two of the MarkLogic User Conference in beautiful San Francisco. From a developer's perspective, I can't think of a better way to spend Cinco de Mayo.
The big tagline for the conference (and the giveaway T-shirts) is "NoSQL before NoSQL was cool." And it's true: MarkLogic has been waving the NoSQL flag for nearly 10 years now. The way they store and access data is streamlined, unique, and ideal for a number of Web 2.0 applications.
The technical sessions have been superb. Interesting to see the concepts behind the speed and scalability of the MarkLogic database, as well as how we can best interact with it.
Here at OHO, we're proud to be one of the official sponsors of the event, as well as a MarkLogic partner. Personally, I'm looking forward to implementing some of the stuff they've presented, expecially in the arenas of XQuery and RDF. I love SQL and all, but sometimes a little change is good, no?
